5/31/18

Hello Parents and Students,

This week student leaders and I have been calling all incoming students!  For those who missed our informational meeting on Thursday, 5/17, we are having a ‘make-up’ meeting tomorrow, Friday at 7:00pm.

If you missed the first meeting it is very necessary for students/parents interested in band to try and attend Friday’s meeting at 7:00pm.  Once we get past our mini-camp next week it gets harder for us to make sure you have important details that will help experience a successful year in the ACHS band!

Sorry to any of you who may be hearing this for the first time now!  We are in our end of year scramble and this meeting was planned very quickly to accommodate the many families who were not able to attend the last one!

Mini-Camp Info/Details for June 5,6 & 7 (Tues-Thurs)

Below are some reminders and important info.  We are looking forward to seeing you next week at our mini-camp for ALL incoming and current band students for next school year! PARENTS, Please don’t forget our meeting on Tuesday at the end of camp 5:00-5:30pm!  We will be kicking off our largest fundraiser and going over some quick to-do’s for the summer.

Mini-Band Camp is Tues-Thurs, June 5th,6th, & 7th, 10am-5pm in the Band Room

  • All Current and Incoming students for next year attend.  This means winds, percussion & guard members!
  • Following the camp on Tuesday there will be a 5:00-5:30pmmeeting for families. We will be kicking off our first major fundraiser and passing out forms for the summer.  It is important both parents and students plan to attend this meeting!
  • Students are welcome to come early/stay late if needed to accommodate rides.  Parents, if you need to drop-off/pick-up outside of camp times, please let me know!
  • Summer school students (or anyone with conflicts), please let me know if you can’t come to the whole mini-camp!  This camp is where we are really counting our personnel for next year so its important for us to know about any conflicts attending!  Summer school students should come to the last 2-3 hours of the camp to avoid missing the whole event!

Please Be Prepared by!

  • Bring your instrument if you have one of your own
  • Dress to go outside, as we will be at some times.  This means sunblock, hats, water, etc. 🙂
  • NO Flip flops!  Wear socks and shoes!
  • Bring water to help you stay hydrated.
  • Bring a lunch!
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early to meet your peers and get situated!  We will start right at the designated time!

 At mini-camps students will be:

  • Having their first look into our fall season
  • Starting to learn music and basics for next year
  • Assigned equipment and setting up for marching band!
  • Instrument & locker checkouts for the summer
  • Fun times and making friends with future peers!
  • All students will be under the instruction of our expert staff and guest instructors!

Generally students will be outside in the mornings and inside after lunch doing sectionals and preparing music in the afternoons. Each day is a little different since we have so much to get set and going for next year.  We will also have some treats and fun activities, along with several important presentations and activities to get students ready for summer and ultimately the Band Camp in July!  More details to come!
